Welcome to

Good Shepherd Montessori School.

Our mission is to provide first-class education for young children, nurturing each individual child’s intellectual, physical, and emotional development.

We offer a child-oriented environment, a proven curriculum, and unique materials designed for eager young minds. Each child is treated as an individual and allowed to grow at his/her own pace.

Our Curriculum

includes practical life, sensorial development, reading and writing, math, science, music, art, physical education, and foreign language. Lessons begin with basic activities and progress over time to advanced work.

Our Classes

The Early Primary Class (ages 2-3) is the ideal starting point for 2s and for young 3s who are new to preschool or need help with toileting. The children enjoy Montessori lessons and other developmentally-appropriate activities that nurture curiosity and independence. Children do not have to be potty trained.

The Primary Class (ages 3-6) is a three-year program, which includes the Kindergarten year. All ages are combined in one class, where each child is taught individually and works at his/her own pace. A child must be fully potty trained before entering the Primary class.

The Elementary Class (ages 6-9) continues the Montessori philosophy with lessons and advanced work in language, math, science and social studies.

The School Day

The school day runs from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Doors open at 8:45 a.m. A half day option (9 to 12) is available for 2- and 3-year olds. AM Care is available before school (7:30-8:45) and PM Care after school (3-6).

The morning: The children spend the morning in their classes working with their teachers and the Montessori materials. Morning class also includes music class, snack time, and outdoor playtime.

The afternoon: Children who stay for the afternoon have lunch at 12:00. After lunch:

Pre-K children have quiet time and a nap.

4-year-olds who no longer nap pursue additional learning activities in the “Nest.” They also have a weekly piano class.

Kindergarten and Elementary children return to their classes for upper-level Montessori work. They also have weekly lessons in foreign language, chorus, and piano.
